Showtime Boxing: Danny Garcia, Lamont Peterson, and Daniel Jacobs In Brooklyn Boxing Event

Oscar De La Hoya and his Golden Boy Promotions will be televising ringside boxing from Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center on Saturday, August 09, 2014. Unfortunately, the card is pretty shitty and not really worth tuning in to.

In the main event, Danny Garcia will be in a non title junior welterweight bout against never heard of Rod Salka. And the co-main event will feature Lamont Peterson defending his IBF junior welterweight title against Edgar Santana.

It’s obvious that Golden Boy promotions and Showtime boxing are trying to set up a future showdown between Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson, which would be a great match up. Unfortunately, this boxing event is full of matches that aren’t even competitive.

Here are the weigh in results (courtesy of Fightnews.com):

Danny Garcia 141.75 vs. Rod Salka 141
Daniel Jacobs 159.5 vs. Jarrod Fletcher 159.25
(WBA middleweight title)
Lamont Peterson 140 vs. Edgar Santana 139.5

(IBF jr welterweight title)

Sadam Ali 146.6 vs. Jeremy Bryan 145.4
Anthony Peterson 137 vs. Edgar Riovalle 144.4
Marcus Browne 176.4 vs. Paul Vasquez 174.2
Prichard Colon 150 vs. Lenwood Dozier 154.2
D’Mitrius Ballard 169 vs. Barry Trotter 168.4
Zachary Ochoa 140 vs. Luis Cervantes 139.6

It’s pretty safe to say that Danny Garcia, Lamont Peterson, and Daniel Jacobs will all win impressively. Let’s just hope that there isn’t some screwjob ending tonight like last week’s Brandon Rios fight against Diego Chaves.
