ESPN Boxing Results: Michael Farenas Hands Mark Davis First Defeat

Michael Farenas defeated Mark Davis via TKO stoppage during ESPN boxing night at the Foxwoods Resorts and Casinos on July 02, 2014.  Farenas (38-4-4, 30 KO’s) became the first man to defeat Davis (18-1, 5 KO’s) and win the IBF world boxing title eliminator.  Farenas was impressive from the opening round as he drew blood from Davis from round 1 and he punished Mark until the referee had seen enough in round 8.  The time of the stoppage was 0:59.

Now fighting in the jr. lightweight division, former IBF featherweight titlist Billy “The Kid” Dib (37-3, 21 KOs) outworked former featherweight world title challenger Alberto “Kichis” Garza (26-8-1, 21 KOs) over ten competitive rounds. Dib pulled away to a 98-91, 96-93, 96-93 win. Garza was deducted a point for holding in round six.

Undefeated jr. welterweight Ryan Martin (6-0, 3 KOs) scored a four round unanimous decision over Matthew Baca (4-2-1, 2 KOs). Scores were 40-36 on all cards.

Unbeaten jr middleweight Junior “Sugar Boy” Younan (5-0, 4 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over winless Azamat Umarzoda )0-4-1, 0 KOs).

Unbeaten jr welterweight Louis “Cruise Control” Cruz (8-0, 4 KOs) cruised to a six round unanimous decision over Ryan Picou (1-3, 0 KOs).
