Miguel Cotto Challenged To Match Less Than 24 Hours After Spectacular Win

Miguel Cotto has been challenged to defend his newly won WBC middleweight championship against defending IBF middleweight champion, Sam Soliman, just hours after Cotto defeated Sergio Martinez this past Saturday.

Soliman impressively defeated European middleweight king, Felix Sturm for a second time (via unanimous decision) just a week before Cotto dispatched of Martinez.

Sam Soliman’s manager, David Stanley, stated that he would reach out to Miguel Cotto’s people to set up a unification bout for later this year. As a side note, Sam Soliman and his team had nothing but praise for Cotto and they have stated that it would be an honor for them to face such a great champion.

For anyone betting boxing on a regular or semi-regular basis should know that Soliman is a very unorthodox and tough opponent. He would put up a hell of a fight against Cotto and it would be a real boxing event that fans around the world would savor.

Should Cotto’s team accept the challenge to unify the belts? Or should Cotto take on big money competition like Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather, Erislandy Lara, or even rematch Austin Trout?
