Danny “Swift” Garcia Returns To Action On August 09th At Barclay’s Center In Brooklyn Against Soon To Be Named Opponent

Danny Swift Garcia

Golden Boy promoted fighter, Danny “Swift” Garcia (28-0, 16 KO’s) will make his return to action on August 09th for his seventh championship fight. His opponent has yet to be named but Garcia has already begun training to get himself in shape.

The 26 year old is promoted by his father, Angel Garcia, who can promote the hell out of his fighter. Angel Garcia did a fantastic job of touting his son prior to Danny’s fight against Amir Khan. Although Khan was a 5:1 favorite, Garcia finished Khan in the fourth round and make the boxing sites and experts consider him a major force in the light welterweight division.

Although “Swift” Garcia defeated Mauricio Herrera in March 2014 in a majority decision, it was not a fight that fans believed Garcia won. Even Showtime’s commentators felt that Herrera did more than enough to get the decision victory. Since the fight took place in Puerto Rico, Danny’s parents’ birthplace, there was most likely some questionable judging taking place.

But let’s give Garcia some serious credit for defeating Lucas Matthyss in the co main event of the Mayweather vs Canelo Alvarez main event. That was a very tough fight for both men and Garcia really out gunned Matthyss, regardless of what boxing experts predicted.

If Danny Garcia wins against his opponent in August, should he move up seven pounds to face Floyd Mayweather in May 2015? If so, does he stand a chance at defeating Floyd?
