50 Cent’s Fighter, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Looks Ready To Rumble Against Terence Crawford
HBO Boxing presents a WBO Lightweight clash on June 28th between undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16 KO’s) and undefeated Terence Crawford (23-0, 16 KO’s). The fight will be taking place in Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska at the CenturyLink Center (presented by Top Rank Promotions). As a side note, it is extremely rare to have two fighters facing each other who have the same exact professional record.
The Cuban fighter, Gamboa, is a highly decorated fighter who won a gold medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens in the flyweight division. The muscular Yuriorkis is promoted by rapper turned promoter, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The charismatic promoter and the star of his stable did a media workout yesterday in Deerfield Beach, Florida to promote Gamboa’s fight.
For those of you who are betting boxing that weekend, we would recommend that you keep an eye on Terence Crawford. We don’t give out betting advice but we believe that Crawford is the fighter with the more impressive resume. The American went to Scotland to face Ricky Burns in his hometown and capture the WBO Lightweight title in an excellent performance. Terence Crawford has also defeated Breidis Prescott, the man who handed Amir Khan his first loss via knockout. Prescott is a known puncher and Crawford handled him well enough to earn the decision.
Has 50 Cent put too much faith into Gamboa and his undefeated record? Is Gamboa taking a huge risk by taking this fight? We mostly think so. Despite Gamboa’s accomplishments thus far, he has never faced someone as versatile, determined, and skilled as Terence Crawford. If we were into sports betting for ourselves, our money would be on the American.
